Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has put his goalscoring form down to simply being "blessed" by God.
Sturridge scored twice as the Reds overcame Notts County 4-2 in an eventful night of League Cup action at Anfield on Tuesday.
The England international now has four goals in three games this season and 15 in 19 appearances since signing for the Reds from Chelsea in January.
"I think I'm just blessed and I'd like to thank God for helping me back from my injury (picked up in May for England) quickly," Sturridge told Sky Sports News.
"I've got the belief and it is also down to the hard work I have put in. I thought we got complacent tonight in the second half. They put us on the back foot and played some decent football.
"But we've got the fitness now and it's come from the pre-season games and working as a team, and it showed in the end."
Sturridge will celebrate his 24th birthday on Saturday.
