Liverpool winger Stewart Downing has admitted that every performance is a chance to prove his manager wrong.
Brendan Rodgers seemed to have lost faith in the England winger, picking Jose Enrique and Raheem Sterling ahead of him in the early part of the season.
Downing, though, has forced his way back into the first team at Anfield and is relishing the challenge from any new signings.
"When the manager gave me a chance again, it was probably the last one I was going to get, as he was looking to bring players in," said Downing.
"If I keep playing well, he can't leave me out. That's how I feel at the minute. Every time I play is a chance to prove him wrong. But if you don't perform he will be disappointed and you won't play.
"If he does strengthen [again] in the summer, it will be good for the team. But every game I play, I have to do well as I know is going to strengthen."
Liverpool brought in Daniel Sturridge and Phillipe Coutinho in January.
