Steven Gerrard has admitted that Liverpool got their tactics wrong in the first half of their 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday.
The Reds went two goals down before Daniel Sturridge and a Gerrard penalty rescued a point, and the skipper, who was operating in a deep lying midfield role in the draw, said that the set-up wasn't right.
"It didn't work for myself or the team," Gerrard told the Liverpool Echo.
"They put a lot of men around me. Every time I tried to get the ball under control they swamped me.
"I openly admit it wasn't one of my better 45 minutes but I improved after the break with the team."
Brendan Rodgers's side are currently fourth in the Premier League.
