Steven Gerrard: "I'd love to come back"

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard reveals that he would "love" to return to the club in some capacity in the future as he approaches the end of a 27-year stay at Anfield.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has admitted that he is finding it "difficult to let go" as he approaches the end of his career with the club.

Gerrard has been with the Merseyside outfit since the age of nine but now has only two matches remaining, with Crystal Palace and Stoke City the opponents for the final two games of the season.

The Liverpool skipper will move to Los Angeles Galaxy this summer, but he revealed that he is eager to return to Anfield in some capacity in the future.

"It's very difficult at the moment. It's going to be difficult to let go. I've been here 27 years," Gerrard told BBC Sport.

"I'm walking away with my head held high, I'm really proud of what I achieved here. Some lows too but it's a part of being a footballer. I grew up in the city dreaming of representing the club and I've achieved more than I thought I would.

"I'd love to come back in some capacity. That's out of my control. Liverpool's in my heart. I'll support from afar for a couple of years. When I return in a couple of years, whoever's in charge of the club, it's down to them."

Gerrard scored his 119th league goal for the club to earn a point for his side in a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.
