Steven Gerrard: 'Managing Liverpool has crossed my mind'

Steven Gerrard admits that he has considered the prospect of managing Liverpool at some point in the future.

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has admitted that he could return to the club in a managerial capacity one day.

The 34-year-old's legendary Reds career is coming to an end, with Saturday's visit of Crystal Palace representing his last game at Anfield before joining Los Angeles Galaxy.

Although Gerrard recognises that manager Brendan Rodgers has one of the hardest jobs in football, the Liverpool captain admits that swapping the pitch for the dugout on Merseyside has crossed his mind.

"We will have to wait and see. I don't want to jump into conclusions and create headlines," he told The Mirror.

"Being the manager of this club is probably one of hardest jobs in the world. First and foremost you have to be good enough, got to be prepared for it and got to be offered it.

"A lot of things would have to happen from now until then so we will have to wait and see. But it is something I have thought about so maybe one day."

Gerrard inspired Liverpool to seven major trophies in a 17-year senior career, scoring 183 times in 708 appearances.
