Joe Gomez has revealed that he is delighted with the way in which he has kicked off his Liverpool career following a summer move from Charlton Athletic.
The 18-year-old left-back has been thrust into the action early on in his spell at Anfield, starting six of the Reds' nine games in all competitions so far.
Nevertheless, Gomez says that his early-season appearances are merely a bonus, with the real experience coming from working under manager Brendan Rodgers and his "top quality" teammates.
"It's been a great experience for me getting the game time. I've learned a lot already and I'm looking to keep on working," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "I had aspirations to come in and be involved, and try and have an impact, but I knew with me being young that I might get the chances straight away and might have to bide my time.
"But at the same time I wanted to come to club to play under a manager like Brendan, who gives young players a chance, so I have to take the opportunities I get.
"I'm enjoying it. It was a bonus to start the first few games of the season. It's just good to be in an environment like this, learning from top quality players every day."
Gomez is expected to be involved again in Thursday's Europa League visit of Sion.
