England boss Gareth Southgate has revealed that Jordan Henderson will take over the role of captain for Friday's friendly against the Netherlands in Amsterdam.
A number of players have shared the honour since Southgate was appointed 16 months ago, including Eric Dier, Gary Cahill, Harry Kane and Liverpool skipper Henderson.
With Kane and Cahill out of the Three Lions' latest squad, though, Southgate has opted to give the armband to the latter of that quartet for the first of his side's two spring friendly internationals.
Henderson has been capped 36 times by his national side since making his debut in 2010, most recently featuring in the World Cup qualifying win against Lithuania in October.
Liverpool teammate Virgil van Dijk, meanwhile, has been named as the Netherlands' new captain by Ronald Koeman.
