Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is fined £30,000 but escapes a touchline ban for shouting at the linesman in their 1-0 win over Manchester City on October 16.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has escaped a touchline ban for remonstrating with the linesman in his side's 1-0 win over Manchester City earlier this month.

The German was enraged when a perceived foul on Mohamed Salah by Bernardo Silva right in front of the linesman was not flagged, and he gave the official an earful.

Klopp was immediately sent to the stands as Liverpool held out for a 1-0 win, but he was charged with improper conduct by the FA in the aftermath.

During his post-game press conference, Klopp immediately admitted that he went over the top in the incident, and he has accepted the charge against him.

Nevertheless, the Reds boss has held his spot on the touchline for clashes with West Ham United and Nottingham Forest, and he will not serve a one-game suspension.

However, Klopp has been hit with a hefty fine of £30,000 after admitting the improper conduct charge, although he is still able to appeal against his punishment.

A statement released by the FA on Thursday afternoon read: "Jurgen Klopp has been fined £30,000 for breaching FA Rule E3 during Liverpool FC's Premier League match against Manchester City FC on Sunday 16 October 2022.

"The manager accepted that his behaviour during the 86th minute was improper, and an independent Regulatory Commission imposed his sanction during a hearing. This sanction is subject to appeal by either Jurgen Klopp or the FA following receipt of the independent Regulatory Commission's written reasons."

As a result, Klopp will be able to bark orders from the dugout when Liverpool resume Premier League duties against Leeds United at Anfield on Saturday evening.

Speaking straight after his red card in the win over Man City, Klopp accepted that his outburst was out of line, but he did not hide his frustration at the officiating by the linesman and Anthony Taylor.

"I went over the top in the moment, I don't think I was disrespectful to anybody but when you look at the pictures back – I know myself for 55 years that the way I look in these moments is already worth a red card," Klopp told reporters after the match.

"I know that, who cares what I say? I lost it in that moment and that is not OK, but I think a little bit as an excuse I would like to mention, how can you not whistle that foul? How on earth is it possible? And I wish I could get an explanation.

"Then that situation, I just had the perfect view, and the linesman, and you can imagine we are 1-0 up and we have a free kick there or a counter-attack there. That is pretty much a 100% difference and that was when I snapped and again I am not proud of that, but it happened."

Klopp has been fined by The FA just one day after the governing body took no further action over an incident involving Jordan Henderson and Arsenal's Gabriel Magalhaes from the Gunners' 3-2 win at the Emirates.

The two men exchanged heated words after Arsenal were awarded the game-winning penalty, but no disciplinary measures will be taken against the unspecified allegation. body check tags ::
