Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp describes his side's attacking performance during their 4-3 win over Arsenal as "wonderful", but admits that they can improve defensively.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted to mixed emotions following his side's 4-3 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon.

The Reds opened their campaign with a thrilling victory over the Gunners, although they almost let a 4-1 lead slip having scored all of their goals in a 20-minute spell either side of half time.

Klopp was delighted with his side's attacking display, but acknowledged that they will need to improve defensively and also expressed regret at getting involved in the celebrations for Sadio Mane's fourth goal.

"Scoring four goals is wonderful, conceding three is the opposite of emotions. We didn't start well in the game. We were not really good, asked for the goal and we got it. A genius shot of [Philippe Coutinho]. I was really happy about having half time because we could speak about everything," he told reporters.

"Our mistakes were so big it was so easy to talk about so we changed our way of defending and showed them where the spaces are. We came out and scored wonderful goals and then I made the big mistake and got involved in the celebrations.

"That will happen hopefully one or two times in my life but not so early in the game because it was the wrong sign for all of us, it felt for everyone in this moment like 'that is it'. Then you look on the watch and see there is still half an hour to go and that is not too good. The crowd was a bit angry obviously and Arsenal fought back and showed character and scored the goals."

The win was only Liverpool's second away victory over the Gunners in their last 21 visits.
