Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has claimed that "people constantly forget how good Andy Robertson is" amid Kostas Tsimikas's rise.
Robertson has struggled to hit the same heights on the attacking front this term as he achieved in previous seasons, and Tsimikas has garnered plenty of praise for his performances this term.
Calls have been made for the Greek left-back to be handed more opportunities in the Premier League this term, but Klopp does not want Robertson's qualities to be forgotten.
Speaking to reporters ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Southampton, Klopp said: "Tsimikas is pushing, but I don't see it as pushing in this sense. People constantly forget how good Robbo is.
"Kostas is much better than he was. We have Owen Beck coming up too, a big prospect. But I don't doubt Robbo at all. Really happy about the development of Kostas, but Robbo is Robbo - an outstanding player.
"You cannot trust people one day and not the next. You get the best out of players. It is not a difficult decision to make but Kostas is an outstanding player. It's very good news."
Robertson has three assists from 13 appearances in all competitions this season, one of which has come in the Premier League. body check tags ::
