Southampton coach Ronald Koeman has said that his side were the better team as they lost 2-0 at home to visitors Liverpool in the Premier League.
The Saints fell short to goals either side of half time from Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling, but Koeman has insisted that his players produced the better showing despite the final outcome.
"We know in football it's all about scoring goals," said Koeman, according to the Daily Star.
"I think we played much better than Liverpool. We had more ball possession, more chances. I call it unlucky. And with some decisions of the referee.
"The second situation is a clear penalty. I'm very disappointed about the result but not about our performance. We deserved much more than we got."
Southampton currently occupy fifth place in the Premier League standings.
