Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva is hopeful that former teammates Andy Carroll and Stuart Downing can help stop Manchester City from winning the Premier League title on Sunday.
The Citizens needs just one point to secure top spot thanks to their superior goal difference over Liverpool, but former Reds duo Carroll and Downing will travel to the Etihad Stadium looking to cause an upset with current club West Ham United.
"We will be texting them before Sunday," Leiva is quoted as saying by the Daily Star. "Of course they have been here with us, working with us and I'm sure they will do their best to get points for West Ham first and then if they can help us.
"It's not the end of the season as we still have Newcastle to play. It is quite hard for City to drop many points but we still have to believe that maybe something good is coming."
Carroll has featured 15 times for West Ham this season, while Downing has made 36 appearances in all competitions to date.
