Liverpool are hopeful of confirming Jurgen Klopp as their new manager by the end of the week, according to a report.
The Reds sacked Brendan Rodgers on Sunday following their 1-1 draw against Everton in the Merseyside derby due to the club's underwhelming start to the season.
Klopp was immediately installed as the favourite to replace the 42-year-old at Anfield, although the Reds were also linked with Carlo Ancelotti.
However, reports suggested that Liverpool had opened talks with the German, and they are now optimistic that the 48-year-old will be their new manager by the end of the week, according to The Times.
Klopp won the Bundesliga twice and finished runner-up in the Champions League in his seven years at Borussia Dortmund.
