Wigan boss Roberto Martinez has insisted that the club are continuing to make progress after holding Liverpool to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday evening.
Charlie Adam missed a second-half penalty for the Merseyside club, with Latics goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi turning the ball away.
"It's not about the result, it's once more about the performance – we spoke about carrying on from Saturday," Martinez told Sky Sports News.
"After the first 20 minutes, when we invited pressure by giving the ball away, we opened the game up and had some really good chances.
"We played eye-to-eye and it would have been a disaster to lose that game. I am extremely happy for the players and it's another step forward."
Wigan will look to continue their run of form when they travel to Manchester United on Monday afternoon.
