Liverpool forward Divock Origi has insisted that he is a far "better player" than when the club signed him last year.

The Reds acquired the Belgium international for £10m from Lille, but he was immediately loaned back to the Ligue 1 side for the entire 2014-15 season.

Origi feels that the extra season of first-team football has helped develop him as a player, and he has revealed that he is full of confidence heading into his first Premier League campaign.

He is quoted as saying by The Mirror: "I am a better player than a year ago when Liverpool decided to sign me and at this stage of my career I am learning a lot of things.

"I just feel that now I am at the right moment and at the right place to be able to become a really good player.

"I am always confident about myself but now I am in a good place. I still have a lot to learn but I am playing with experienced players and a very good staff that can help me improve every day."

The 20-year-old made his first appearance for Brendan Rodgers's men in their 4-0 win over the Thailand All-Stars, marking the occasion with a goal.
