Prime Minister David Cameron says that he will 'look carefully' into the rise of ticket prices for Premier League matches.

Prime Minister David Cameron has claimed that the government will 'look carefully' at the hike in ticket prices for Premier League matches.

The issue has made headlines in the past few days following Liverpool Football Club's announcement that Category A games next season could cost fans up to £77.

In protest, approximately 10,000 Liverpool fans walked out of Anfield in the 77th minute of Saturday's 2-2 draw against Sunderland.

In the House of Commons on Wednesday shadow sports minister Clive Efford brought up the issue to Cameron, who said: "There is a problem here where some teams, some clubs, put up prices very rapidly every year, even though so much of the money for football actually comes through the sponsorship of the equipment and other sources.

"So I will look very carefully at what the honourable gentleman says."

Last month, Premier League clubs voted against introducing a £30 cap on tickets for away fans.
