Former Liverpool left-back John Arne Riise has said that he hopes Jurgen Klopp can bring the "good old days" back to Anfield following his appointment as manager.
The ex-Borussia Dortmund coach was named as Brendan Rodgers's successor on Thursday night.
Klopp is said to have signed a three-year deal worth a reported £7m a year, which makes the German Liverpool's highest-paid manager in the history of the club.
Rodgers, who was sacked by Liverpool last Sunday, failed to win a trophy during his three-year spell in charge on Merseyside.
After Klopp gave his first interview since being appointed, Riise tweeted: "I'm so freaking excited with the Klopp signing! Time to make Anfield a place oppositions fear again. Bring back the good old days.Good times.
"Just seen Klopp first interview as manager of our great club @LFC. Gave me goosebumps!! What a way to start!!"
Klopp's first game in charge of Liverpool is against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on October 17.
