Liverpool's Brendan Rodgers: 'I'm not arrogant, I know I can lose my job'

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers accepts that his job is under pressure following the worst start to the club's season in 22 years.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted that he is aware that his job could be in danger at Anfield following the club's worst start to a season for 22 years.

The Merseyside outfit, who came second to champions Manchester City last season, have lost their last five games in all competitions, the latest of which was yesterday's 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Back in May, Rodgers signed a new long-term contract with the club, but after spending more than £100m on nine new signings and suffering six defeats in 12 league fixtures, pressure is beginning to mount on the Northern Irishman's shoulders.

"I am not arrogant enough to think I will be in a job through anything," Rodgers told reporters. "Any manager will tell you that you have to win games and you have to get results.

"I have a great communication line with the owners. We've been honest enough with each other, but ultimately you have to get results.

"Now I need to fight even harder. And take the responsibility because as manager full responsibility comes down to me. Any pressure comes on to me."

Reports have claimed that Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp could replace Rodgers should the club decide to sack the Northern Irishman.
