Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has praised "excellent" Rickie Lambert for his performance against Hull City following his arrival from the bench.
The former Southampton forward has struggled for game time since joining Anfield in the summer, but was paired up with Mario Balotelli for the final half-hour of Saturday's goalless draw at Anfield.
"Rickie was excellent when he came on," Rodgers told the club's official website. "It has been difficult for him because he probably wants to play a little bit more.
"But he's working tirelessly in training and when he gets the opportunities to play, if he shows that composure and quality, the chances will come. He made a real difference for us when he came on."
Liverpool are currently seventh in the Premier League table.
