Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insists that he has no regrets over his comments about referee Lee Mason.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that he does not regret making the comments about referee Lee Mason that resulted in him being fined by the Football Association.

The Northern Irishman received an £8,000 fine and a warning from England's football governing body for 'questioning the integrity of the referee'.

After Liverpool's 2-1 defeat to Manchester City on Boxing Day, Rodgers questioned whether Mason should have been allowed to officiate the match due to him being from Greater Manchester.

"My view hasn't changed," Rodgers said in a press conference. "I obviously accept the punishment but I'm not one who is the enemy to the officials. My history will show that, I have always supported and encouraged them.

"I was disappointed after the game, disappointed with the [the fine] considering my history but all I was doing was speaking honestly and in no way was I questioning the integrity of the referee."

The Reds are currently fourth in the Premier League table after 20 games.
