Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has talked up the talent of his son Anton ahead of their meeting at Anfield.
The Reds boss will come up against his son when his side take on Oldham Athletic in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday.
The Northern Irishman told the Liverpool Echo: "Anton is a better player than I was. I was skinny. I had decent technique and understood the game, but probably the mistakes I made led me to help other young players.
"He was brought up with it but I never shoved it down his throat. He's always been clever enough to pick up from the environments he's been in.
"He understands the game much better than perhaps I did. He's had a great education as a young player in England. He has knowledge of the game. I speak to him a lot about players."
The Reds were beaten by Oldham in last season's FA Cup.
