Rodrygo has insisted that he will remain a Real Madrid player despite Kylian Mbappe's imminent arrival.
Fresh from winning their 15th Champions League trophy, Real Madrid are on the verge of unveiling Mbappe as their first signing of the summer transfer window.
Having been a long-term target for Real Madrid, Mbappe will finally join the Spanish giants on a free transfer upon the expiry of his Paris Saint-Germain contract.
With Mbappe set to join Carlo Ancelotti's side, there has been speculation as to whether his arrival could affect Rodrygo's future.
The Brazil international has been linked with a move to the Premier League amid interest from Liverpool and Manchester City.
Rodrygo addresses Real Madrid future
Earlier this week, Rodrygo fuelled the rumours over his future when he refused to rule out a departure in an interview with DAZN.
However, the 23-year-old later clarified his comments, taking to social media to state that his remarks were "taken completely out of context".
Rodrygo reaffirmed his commitment to Real Madrid following Saturday's 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final at Wembley.
"Of course, I'm gonna stay at Real Madrid," Rodrygo told reporters. "Why should I leave? I'm staying."
Rodrygo claimed his second Champions League winners' medal after goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Junior proved enough to sink Dortmund.
Can Rodrygo prosper with Mbappe?
There are obvious concerns that Mbappe's signing will knock Rodrygo down the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabeu.
That could be the case if Ancelotti continues to implement a front two, but a change of formation could create the space to start Rodrygo, Mbappe and Vinicius.
While he may not be on Mbappe's or Vinicius' level, Rodrygo remains a key player for Real Madrid as Ancelotti was keen to point out ahead of the Champions League final.
The forward made 51 competitive appearances throughout the 2023-24 campaign, scoring 17 goals and providing nine assists.
As a result of those contributions, he has now registered 54 goals and 41 assists in 216 matches following his arrival from Santos in the summer of 2019. body check tags ::
