Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho believes that the Merseyside club are "in the mix" for the Premier League title.
The Reds are currently second in the table after picking up 33 points from 16 games, leaving the club two points adrift of leaders Arsenal.
Sakho believes that his side's 5-0 demolition of Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday has sent a "strong message" to their rivals.
"I think it simply shows that Liverpool are right in the mix and that we want to remain in and around the top of the table," Sakho told the club's official website.
"I think it's a very strong message that we've sent, and while our main aim is to be in the places for the Champions League, we will see how things stand towards the end of the season to see if we are in the running for the title itself. But the first target is to get back on the European stage once again."
Liverpool can go to the top of the table with a win over Cardiff City on Saturday.
