Liverpool striker Luis Suarez could return late to pre-season training due to Uruguay's successful run in the Copa America.
Suarez and his teammates face Peru in the semi-final on Tuesday and should they progress, the forward could only have a three-week break before the start of the Premier League season next month.
However, assistant manager Steve Clarke believes that there is enough strength in depth for the current squad to cope.
"Now in football you just have to accept that different countries and different continents have their own tournaments and their own times," he said.
"If they are ready to start the season, fine. But if they need a bit of time to recover, that's why you have a big squad."
Liverpool begin the Premier League season on Saturday August 13 at home to Sunderland.
