The Premier League has seen some of the best strikers in world football over the years.
The likes of Alan Shearer, Robbie Fowler and Wayne Rooney have flown the flag for England, while foreign imports such as Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Eric Cantona have added immeasurably quality to the league considered by many to be the best in the world.
Two players who have lit up the top flight so far this season come from South America, with Uruguay's Luis Suarez and Argentina's Sergio Aguero in sparkling form for Liverpool and Manchester City respectively.
Here, Sports Mole compares the two men and asks who the better player is at this moment in time.
Luis Suarez
After a summer in which Suarez publicly expressed his desire to leave Anfield in order to play Champions League football, questions were raised over how the Uruguayan would respond to being told in no uncertain terms that he was staying put.
There was also the question of how he would return following his lengthy ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic at the tail end of last season.
The answers to both were quickly provided by Suarez, who has shown even better form on his return than the dazzling displays he provided before the suspension.
The 26-year-old scored twice in his first Premier League appearance since April as Liverpool cruised to a 3-1 win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
He then scored against Crystal Palace before netting his first Anfield hat-trick to cap off a virtuoso individual display in Liverpool's 4-1 win over West Bromwich Albion last month.
Two more goals followed in yesterday's rout of Fulham at Anfield, leaving Suarez with eight goals from the seven games he has featured in so far this season.
Sergio Aguero
October's Player of the Month has been in the form of his career in the last few weeks. He sits joint-top of the Premier League goalscoring charts, alongside Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.
The Argentine has contributed a phenomenal seven goals and three assists in his last five league games and averages a goal every 85 minutes for the season.
The 25-year-old was the main protagonist in City's 4-1 win over arch-rivals Manchester United earlier this season, and he was also instrumental in his side's 7-0 drubbing of Norwich last weekend.
His partnership with Alvaro Negredo is beginning to flourish, with the duo netting an incredible 15 times in the six games that they have played together.
Aguero has scored 13 goals in 13 games so far this season in all competitions, with his five in four European matches helping City to progress from the group stages of the competition for the first time in their history.
Sports Mole's verdict: Luis Suarez.
