Midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has revealed that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is expecting more from him this season.
Wijnaldum has established himself as one of Klopp's key men in the centre of the pitch, with eight goals being scored in 94 appearances in all competitions.
However, the 27-year-old has said that Klopp has called for him to become more involved in the team's general play throughout the current campaign.
The Dutchman told the club's official website: "He said that I have to be more involved in games, and that there was too many times that I was not involved and that it was easier to play a bad game.
"I was busy with that and last season he was really busy with the number six position while my head was in the number eight position, but he said that's also the next step, that you can play in more positions than only one because you have the qualities to play there and you can help the team to do better."
Wijnaldum could feature when Liverpool face Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday evening.
