Liverpool suffered a humiliating 6-1 defeat at the hands of Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on the final day of the Premier League season this afternoon.

Mame Biram Diouf, Jonathan Walters, Charlie Adam, Steven N'Zonzi and Peter Crouch contributed to the impressive scoreline, while Steven Gerrard found the back of the net on his final game for Liverpool.

As a result, the Reds dropped to sixth in the table, while Stoke have sealed ninth in the standings.

Goal

Asmir Begovic: In what may have been the Bosnian's final game for Stoke, the shot-stopper was rarely troubled throughout the game, but when he called upon, he was a commanding presence. (7/10)

Defence

Erik Pieters: Got into numerous battles with Adam Lallana and came off the winner on most occasions. His physical strength frustrated the visitors, but he committed a few risky challenges. (6/10)

Marc Muniesa: Looked relatively comfortable during the fixture, but it was a disappointing end as he was forced off in the second half with an injury. (6/10)

Ryan Shawcross: Commanded the back four as usual and managed to cope comfortably with Liverpool's forward threat as the Reds didn't play a recognised striker for the majority of the game. (7/10)

Geoff Cameron: Looked comfortable when faced up against Lallana, but was uneasy when trying to stop Jordan Ibe's surging runs. (5/10)

Midfield

Steven N'Zonzi: Grabbed Stoke's fifth goal with a stunning long-range effort and was also effective on the counter-attack. (8/10)

Glenn Whelan: Managed to stifle Liverpool's midfield and break up play when the Potters were without the ball. (7/10)

Charlie Adam: Looked a threat when going forward and was eventually rewarded with a goal after numerous 30-yard strikes. Given plenty of space and calmed down after some early crunching tackles. (8/10)

Jonathan Walters: Continued his positive goalscoring form against Liverpool by scoring a header from close range. His didn't put a foot wrong in the first half. (8/10)

Marko Arnautovic: Contributed to the majority of Stoke's goal this afternoon and showed impressive skill down the left-hand side. Liverpool failed to keep him quiet and the attacker was rarely troubled. (9/10)

Attack

Mame Biram Diouf: Got a slice of luck with his first goal, but his second was a great finish. Had the freedom to put pressure on Liverpool's shaky defence and his hard work eventually paid off. (7/10)

Substitutes

Marc Wilson: Replaced the injured Muniesa and appeared comfortable and solid during his minutes on the field. (6/10)

Peter Odemwingie: Came on after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with injury. Looked rusty as expected as he gave the ball away a few times. (5/10)

Peter Crouch: Punished his former club with a late goal to round off an impressive afternoon from Stoke. (6/10)

LIVERPOOL

Simon Mignolet: The Belgian's turnaround in form has received plenty of plaudits in the last few months, but he could have done better to stop some of the goals. In his defence, a handful of the goals scored were unstoppable, but the shot-stopper's commanding presence was missed at times. (4/10)

Defence

Emre Can: A game to forget for the German Under-21 international as he showed his inexperience in defence. His header back towards Mignolet contributed to Stoke's third goal. (2/10)

Martin Skrtel: Tried to keep Liverpool's back line in check and committed some vital headed clearances, but was in danger of getting sent off until he escaped a second bookable offence. (4/10)

Mamadou Sakho: It was the Frenchman's return from injury and he looked rusty and at times uncomfortable on the ball. His poor marking led to Crouch's goal in the second half. (3/10)

Alberto Moreno: Made some important interceptions, but didn't get forward as much as expected in the first half. Struggled to handle Stoke's physical presence. (4/10)

Midfield

Lucas Leiva: Had a quiet game and struggled to make his mark in the middle of the field. Looked bullied at times when going up against the Stoke players. (4/10)

Joe Allen: Looked composed on the ball when in possession, but his creative side was missing as he didn't offer much going forward. (4/10)

Jordan Henderson: Got himself in decent positions in the final third and put in an energetic performance, but he failed to make an impact as his efforts generally came to nothing. (4/10)

Steven Gerrard: Marked his final game as a Liverpool player with a goal, but it was a meaningless one. Tried to make things happen by moving forward in an attacking role, but he didn't have that focal point up front to aim to. (6/10)

Attack

Adam Lallana: Looked one of the most threatening in the early stages of the game, but was easily frustrated when he felt that decisions by the referee weren't going his way. Came close to scoring when he was one on one with the goalkeeper, but his effort was saved. (6/10)

Philippe Coutinho: Created some chances throughout the game, but his shots at goal were rather tame. The Brazilian didn't have the support or a striker in front of him to work with. (6/10)

Substitutes

Kolo Toure: Replaced Emre Can at the half-time interval and looked shaky at times in the back three. (4/10)

Jordon Ibe: Showed promise going forward due to his speed, but his final touch was lacking. Managed to get past his marker numerous times, but more often than not, his crosses were cut out. (5/10)

Rickie Lambert: Got an assist for Gerrard's goal and was able to hold the ball up when he came on late in the second half, but he was unable to make a significant impact as the game was already won for Stoke. (5/10)
