Raheem Sterling has been dropped from the Liverpool side that travels to Stoke City for Steven Gerrard's final game at the club.
The 20-year-old England international made a string of headlines earlier this week after his agent, Aidy Ward, claimed that his client was keen to secure a move elsewhere in the summer transfer window.
Sterling is part of the Liverpool bench, although Gerrard is selected for the 710th and final time in midfield alongside Jordan Henderson and Joe Allen.
Philippe Coutinho will be deployed as a makeshift striker, with Adam Lallana supplying the Brazilian international with support.
Meanwhille, the Potters, who have already secured a record Premier League points tally, have Asmir Begovic back in goal as Mark Hughes makes one change from the team that drew 0-0 with Burnley last week.
Marc Muniesa continues alongside Ryan Shawcross in defence, while Mame Biram Diouf is the lone striker for the hosts.
Stoke: Begovic; Cameron, Shawcross, Muniesa, Pieters; Nzonzi, Whelan, Adam, Walters, Arnautovic; Diouf
Liverpool: Mignolet; Can, Skrtel, Sakho; Moreno, Lucas, Allen, Henderson, Gerrard, Lallana; Coutinho
