How Liverpool could line up against West Ham United

Sports Mole looks at how Liverpool could line up for Wednesday night's Premier League clash with West Ham United as Sadio Mane misses out again through injury.

Liverpool have the chance to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to 19 points on Wednesday when they face West Ham United in their game in hand at the London Stadium.

Jurgen Klopp's side have been relentless so far this season, picking up 67 points from the 69 on offer, including victories in each of their last 14 Premier League outings.

However, the world champions did throw away a two-goal lead against League One side Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup at the weekend, offering a slight glimmer of hope for a West Ham outfit hovering perilously close to the relegation zone.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Liverpool could line up for the contest.

Out: James Milner (thigh), Nathaniel Clyne (knee), Sadio Mane (hamstring)
Doubtful: Adam Lallana (illness), Xherdan Shaqiri (calf)

Klopp will be without his joint top-scorer for this match after Sadio Mane limped off during the first half of last Thursday's win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

However, the hamstring injury is not as serious as first feared and the Senegalese winger is expected back after the winter break, with Klopp also casting doubt over his availability for the weekend meeting with Southampton.

Mane will be a loss having scored four goals in his last three games against West Ham, but Mohamed Salah also has a good record in this fixture, netting four times in his four previous meetings with the Hammers.

Salah and Roberto Firmino were both called off the bench in an attempt to rescue victory from the draw at Shrewsbury, and they will be among the star names to return to the starting lineup on Wednesday, along with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Recent injury absentees Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip and Fabinho all started at the weekend, but the latter is the only one of those three expected to be in contention to keep his place given the form of Joe Gomez.

Divock Origi may be the only other Sunday starter to retain his spot due to Mane's absence, with Klopp otherwise set for wholesale changes.
