Divock Origi secures a point for Liverpool with a stoppage-time equaliser in their 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League.

Liverpool needed a last-gasp goal from Divock Origi to secure a 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion at Anfield in the Premier League this afternoon.

There were few opportunities early on, as the visitors struggled to find gaps at the back, while a Jordan Henderson ball in for Christian Benteke was cleared before the striker could get his shot away.

Benteke had another chance shortly after as a Nathaniel Clyne effort fell to him, but Gareth McAuley was back to turn the Belgian striker's finish behind.

Liverpool made the breakthrough midway through the opening period as Philippe Coutinho, who was back after missing the team's last two Premier League fixtures, crossed the ball in for Adam Lallana to head down, leaving Henderson to hammer the ball past Boaz Myhill.

It did not take the visitors long to get back on level terms though, as Simon Mignolet missed while trying to clear a Chris Brunt corner, resulting in Craig Dawson slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

West Brom thought that they had taken the lead on the stroke of half time, as Jonas Olsson rose high at the far post to head past Mignolet, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

The Liverpool keeper had to be ready at the start of the second half as Salomon Rondon tested him with an immediate run into the box, but the stopper was able to deal with it.

The home side began to dictate play again though, with Alberto Moreno trying to set up an opportunity for Benteke, who could only head wide, while Henderson overhit a delivery for the striker a couple of minutes later.

Benteke continued to see plenty of action in the West Brom box, almost restoring Liverpool's lead on the hour mark with a volley from a Lallana cross, but his finish failed to trouble Myhill.

West Brom started to see more of the ball inside the final half hour, but Olsson fouled Mignolet while trying to tap in from close range, wasting an opportunity for the visitors.

The defender finally got himself on the scoresheet with just over 15 minutes to go though, leaping at the far post to head in from a Brunt cross and giving the Baggies the lead for the first time.

Jurgen Klopp's side came close to getting back on level terms as the match headed into the final 10 minutes, with Benteke playing a through-ball in for Lallana, but his low strike was saved by Myhill.

The home side continued to pile forward in the final minutes as they desperately pressed for the equaliser, but that left the Reds vulnerable to the counter-attack, but Rondon's attempt to add a third went wide.

Henderson quickly made his way back down the other end looking for his second of the match, but his shot lacked power, leaving Myhill with another comfortable stop.

West Brom's resistance was finally broken deep in stoppage time as Benteke unleashed a long-range strike, which took a deflection off Origi to wrong-foot Myhill, ensuring that the sides finished level.

The result moves Liverpool back up to ninth in the table, while West Brom stay 13th in the standings.
