Leicester City fight their way back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Liverpool.

Leicester City fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Liverpool at Anfield this afternoon.

The visitors almost took a shock lead inside the first 60 seconds as Riyad Mahrez caught Simon Mignolet by surprise with a free kick from long range that clipped the post before bouncing away to safety.

Mahrez then blazed the ball over the bar from 12 yards after a surging run from Jeff Schlupp and soon after Liverpool took the lead.

The referee pointed to the penalty spot and penalised Wes Morgan for handball, although Raheem Sterling's cross struck him in the face, and Gerrard slotted the ball home from the spot.

Leicester continued to fire shots at goal, with Schlupp slicing an effort wide of the near post before Mahrez's deflected free kick looped over the bar.

Adam Lallana then almost netted his third goal in two games, but his low shot from the edge of the box arced away from the far post at the last minute.

Five minutes before the break Liverpool were awarded their second penalty of the afternoon as the ball bounced up onto Danny Simpson's hand and Gerrard kept his composure to net his second goal.

Leicester continued to dominate possession in the second half and came close through David Nugent, but two goals in three minutes brought the Foxes back on level terms.

First, Nugent arrowed a powerful volley into the bottom corner from 20 yards before Schlupp sent a low drive beyond the reach of Mignolet to stun the hosts.

Mahrez continued to be one of Leicester's main threats and sent a free kick wide of Mignolet's near post with Liverpool struggling to cope with the away side's attacking threat.

Fabio Borini fired an effort over the bar before seeing another effort accidentally blocked by Lazar Markovic.

Leicester had a chance of their own to take all three points at the death, but Marcin Wasilewski's shot was blocked by a mass of Liverpool bodies.

Jordan Henderson saw a goalbound shot saved by Ben Hamer late on before Markovic sent a header wide as Liverpool were left frustrated.
