Harvey Elliott starts for Liverpool in place of the suspended Curtis Jones for Sunday's Premier League clash with Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp faced a midfield predicament with all of Jones, Stefan Bajcetic and Thiago Alcantara out of contention, and Elliott has been given the nod to join Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai in the engine room.

Despite scoring his first goal for Liverpool against Union SG in midweek, Ryan Gravenberch is kept waiting for his full Premier League debut, while Joel Matip is given the nod over Ibrahima Konate.

Up top, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez make expected returns alongside Mohamed Salah, with Diogo Jota serving a one-game ban and Cody Gakpo missing out due to a knee injury.

Meanwhile, Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi has made seven changes to the side that drew with Marseille on Thursday, including a recall for Bart Verbruggen in goal over Jason Steele.

Igor Julio, Carlos Baleba and Simon Adingra also start, while ex-Liverpool man Adam Lallana is fit enough to make the bench, but Tariq Lamptey and James Milner are absent.

Brighton & Hove Albion: Verbruggen; Veltman, Dunk, Julio, Gross; March, Baleba; Adingra, Pedro, Mitoma; Ferguson
Subs: Steele, Webster, Dahoud, Gilmour, Lallana, Welbeck, Van Hecke, Fati, Hinshelwood

Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Elliott; Salah, Nunez, Diaz
Subs: Adrian, Gomez, Endo, Konate, Tsimikas, Gravenberch, Chambers, Doak, Quansah body check tags ::
