Pep Guardiola: 'Liverpool still favourites for Premier League title'

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola insists that Liverpool remain favourites to win the Premier League title this season despite their 0-0 draw with Manchester United.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has insisted that Liverpool remain favourites for the Premier League title following their goalless draw with Manchester United this afternoon.

Jurgen Klopp's side had the chance to move three points clear of Guardiola's champions with victory in their game in hand at Old Trafford, and their hopes of doing that looked to have improved when United were forced to make all three changes in the first half.

However, the title hopefuls failed to break down the United defence as they were held to a stalemate which takes them back to the top of the table, but only one point above Man City.

Speaking after watching his side beat Chelsea in the final of the EFL Cup at Wembley, Guardiola told reporters: "It was a derby - I didn't watch it too much. I know at half time there were three injuries for United, but I didn't watch the second half.

"I don't know how the game was. We are closer. A time ago we were seven points behind and now it is one point. Still they are leading and still they are the favourites. But [right now] we don't think too much about that, we think about the recovery of the players and winning our games.

"We have an incredibly tough two games because we play on Wednesday and then on Saturday, when we have to go to Bournemouth. Now one competition is gone and we focus especially on the Premier League."

City's victory over Chelsea at Wembley saw them retain a trophy for the first time in their history - a feat they are also looking to achieve in the Premier League.
