Manchester City will reportedly step up their interest in two Bundesliga players during the summer of 2025.
After winning a record fourth consecutive Premier League title last season, the Citizens decided to be frugal during the summer transfer window and were somewhat surprisingly the lowest spenders of all 20 English top-flight clubs.
Pep Guardiola's side made just two summer signings, recruiting winger Savinho from Troyes for an initial £21m and midfielder Ilkay Gundogan on a free transfer from Barcelona.
Man City also generated in excess of £145m from player sales, most notably receiving up to £82m from Julian Alvarez's club-record sale to Atletico Madrid, £21.5m from Joao Cancelo's sale to Al-Hilal and £20m from Taylor Harwood-Bellis's sale to Southampton.
Guardiola is thought to be happy with the makeup of his current first-team squad, but it is understood that Citizens chiefs are already working out ways in which they can strengthen in future transfer windows.
Man City targeting Musiala, Kimmich in 2025
According to Fichajes, Man City are 'determined' to sign Bayern Munich duo Jamal Musiala and Joshua Kimmich in the summer of 2025.
The report states that 'ambitious' plans have been laid out by the Citizens to recruit both players as they are keen to reinforce their midfield.
Musiala is widely regarded as one of the most promising young talents in Europe and has regularly been linked with a move to Man City, while the likes of Liverpool and Barcelona have also been credited with an interest.
The 21-year-old has already made 166 senior appearances for Bayern across all competitions, scoring 44 goals and providing 31 assists, including 12 goals and eight assists in 38 games last season.
Musiala, a versatile attacker who can operate as an advanced midfielder or on either flank, was a standout performer for Germany at Euro 2024 and is a key member of Vincent Kompany's Bayern squad; he also has two years remaining on his contract in Bavaria.
Kimmich's Bayern future uncertain amid Man City interest
Man City also hold an interest in Kimmich, who is said to have been identified as the 'ideal' replacement for Rodri should he depart the Etihad Stadium next summer amid reported interest from Real Madrid.
Kimmich, who can play in midfield or at right-back, was tipped to leave Bayern in the summer in search of a fresh challenge having spent the last nine seasons at the Allianz Arena, recording 42 goals and 104 assists in 393 appearances.
A move for the 29-year-old, an eight-time Bundesliga winner, ultimately failed to materialise, but speculation over his future is set to remain rife as he has less than a year remaining on his Bayern contract.
Kimmich is known to be admired by Guardiola, who worked with the versatile German during his three years in charge of Bayern between 2013 and 2016. body check tags ::
