Barcelona are reportedly ready to open contract discussions with winger Ousmane Dembele.

At a time when the Catalan giants are restricted in the transfer market, they must also ensure that a number of key players do not leave Camp Nou below their market value.

Dembele, who cost €145m (£125m) including add-ons in 2017, falls into that bracket with just over 15 months remaining on his existing deal.

However, according to reports in Spain, Barcelona intend to hold talks with the France international as soon as possible, aware that rival clubs will be monitoring the situation.

Despite rediscovering his form at the Spanish side, the 23-year-old is allegedly open to accepting a marginal paycut in order to extend his stay.

Dembele has made 34 appearances in all competitions this season, exceeding expectations of many behind the scenes after featuring on just nine occasions during 2019-20.

Liverpool have recently been linked with an approach for the player.
