Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly interested in Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The Englishman has scored 18 goals and provided 15 assists in 143 competitive appearances for Liverpool, but his time on Merseyside has largely been hampered by injuries.
Despite struggling to establish himself in the Liverpool side, Oxlade-Chamberlain recently started four consecutive Premier League games before being left on the bench for Saturday's goalless draw against Chelsea.
Although he has enjoyed a recent run of games, Liverpool have decided against extending Oxlade-Chamberlain's current deal, which runs until June.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has featured on the left wing for Liverpool in recent weeks, due to injuries to Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota.
However, the recent arrival of Cody Gakpo could affect his playing time, and he will fall further down the pecking order when Diaz and Jota return to full fitness.
The former Arsenal man will also find it difficult to break into the midfield, with Jurgen Klopp preferring to utilise the likes of Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita and Fabinho.
As a result, Oxlade-Chamberlain will leave the club when his contract expires in the summer, although there has been speculation that he could depart in January.
According to the Daily Mail, Brighton are keen on signing Oxlade-Chamberlain, as they look to strengthen their squad after selling Leandro Trossard to Arsenal.
Brighton are believed to be interested in a January deal, but with the player's contract set to expire in June, they are reluctant to pay a transfer fee.
The report claims that any deal depends on whether Liverpool are prepared to allow Oxlade-Chamberlain to leave on a free transfer this month.
Brighton could face competition for Oxlade-Chamberlain's signature, with a number of Premier League clubs monitoring the situation.
A move to the Seagulls would see Oxlade-Chamberlain follow in the footsteps of his former Liverpool teammate Adam Lallana, who joined the South-coast club on a free transfer in 2020.
Lallana and Oxlade-Chamberlain could both be involved for their respective clubs when they face off at the Amex Stadium in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday.
Liverpool will be looking for revenge, after they were beaten 3-0 in their Premier League away meeting with the Seagulls just over 10 days ago. body check tags ::
