Fenerbahce have confirmed that they are in talks to sign Martin Skrtel from Liverpool this summer.
The 31-year-old is widely expected to leave Anfield having fallen down the pecking order under manager Jurgen Klopp last season.
Fenerbahce have been linked with a move for the Slovakia international throughout the transfer window, and the Turkish outfit have now confirmed on their website that they have opened official talks with the player.
The deal taking Skrtel to Turkey is thought to be worth around £5m, which would see Liverpool recoup the vast majority of the sum they paid for him eight years ago.
Skrtel, who was one of the longest-serving players at Liverpool, made 319 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring 18 goals.
