Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is reportedly no closer to agreeing a new contract with the European champions despite only having little over a year left to run on his current deal.
The 29-year-old has again been a key player for the European champions during the 2019-20 campaign, contributing five goals in 38 appearances in all competitions.
The Netherlands international is still on the five-year deal that he signed upon his arrival from Newcastle United in July 2016, though, meaning that, as it stands, he will be a free agent next summer.
According to The Athletic, Jurgen Klopp is determined to keep hold of the Dutchman, who has made 177 appearances for the European champions in all competitions.
However, the report claims that talks between the midfielder's agent and the club's sporting director Michael Edwards have stalled.
Wijnaldum scored 11 Premier League goals for Newcastle United during the 2015-16 campaign but left the Magpies following their relegation to the Championship.
