Liverpool are confident of completing a deal to sign Brazilian wonderkid Lucas, according to reports.
The 19-year-old scored in Brazil's 2-0 victory over Argentina on Wednesday night and has been attracting interest from a host of top European clubs.
According to Lancernet, the midfielder has been of long-term interest to the club, who have been monitoring his position at current side Sao Paolo.
Lucas is one of 13 names on FIFA's players to watch in 2011, a list that includes Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, Liverpool's Jordan Henderson and Romelu Lukaku of Chelsea.
It is thought that Liverpool would be willing to pay the Brazilian club's estimated €22m (£19m) valuation for the midfielder.
