Liverpool considering Marcus Thuram approach?

:Headline: Liverpool considering Marcus Thuram approach?:
Liverpool reportedly consider an approach for Borussia Monchengladbach attacker Marcus Thuram, who is also on the radar of Bayern Munich.

Borussia Monchengladbach attacker Marcus Thuram has reportedly emerged as a possible transfer target for Liverpool.

The 25-year-old - son of France legend Lilian Thuram - has enjoyed a stellar start to the campaign for the German side with 13 goals and four assists in 17 games in all tournaments.

Thuram has struck 10 goals in 15 Bundesliga outings for Monchengladbach, as well as coming up with three goals in two DFB-Pokal outings.

However, the four-cap France international is due to become a free agent at the end of the season after entering the final 12 months of his contract with the Bundesliga side.

Should Monchengladbach fail to agree a new contract with Thuram before January, he will be able to enter pre-contract discussions with foreign clubs over the winter.

According to Fussball Transfers, Liverpool are now considering a cut-price approach for Thuram following his blistering start to the 2022-23 season.

The report adds that Bayern Munich have had their eye on Thuram for some time, with the German champions still searching for an out-and-out replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

Julian Nagelsmann's side are understood to be prioritising a swoop for Tottenham Hotspur talisman Harry Kane, but Thuram would be an ideal alternative if a move for the England captain does not materialise.

Nevertheless, the report adds that Thuram can expect to be heading to a Champions League-competing club at the end of the season should he continue scoring in the same vein.

The Frenchman represented Sochaux and Guingamp in his homeland before moving to Monchengladbach in 2019, and he has since made 119 appearances for Die Fohlen.

Thuram has scored 41 goals and provided 26 assists in that time and has already equalled his best goalscoring season for Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga, having also hit 10 in his debut year in 2019-20.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp oversaw a major overhaul of his attacking compartment in the summer, having waved goodbye to Takumi Minamino, Divock Origi and Sadio Mane while bringing in Fabio Carvalho and Darwin Nunez.

The Reds are facing uncertainty over Roberto Firmino, though, with the Brazil international - like Thuram - also out of contract at the end of the season.

Firmino has been an integral cog in Liverpool's attack this term, though, and Klopp has confirmed that talks are ongoing over a new deal for the 31-year-old. body check tags ::
