Liverpool and Newcastle United have reportedly identified Porto winger Luis Diaz as a January transfer target.

Despite both clubs being at opposite ends of the Premier League standings, the Magpies now have the financial firepower to match the top teams in the division.

According to Record, the North-East outfit have ambitions to sign Colombia international Diaz at the midway point of the campaign.

The 24-year-old has established himself as a star for club and country, the playmaker contributing 11 goals and two assists in a Porto shirt this season.

Liverpool are also said to hold an interest in a player who is allegedly valued in the region of £50m by his Portuguese club.

With three of his front four in and around the 30-years-of-age bracket, Jurgen Klopp will soon need to freshen up his options in the final third.
