Premier League side Liverpool have reportedly entered the race to sign former Italy international Alessandro Del Piero.
Manager Brendan Rodgers has recently expressed his frustration at failing to replace Andy Carroll, who was allowed to join West Ham United on a season-long loan.
Michael Owen had been linked with a return to Anfield, but the ex-England striker opted to join Stoke City on a free transfer earlier today.
As a result, Rodgers has now made contact with Del Piero's representative over a potential move to Merseyside, according to a number of reports.
Del Piero, who has been without a club since leaving Italian champions Juventus at the end of last season, has also been linked with Sydney FC.
Speculation has claimed that the 37-year-old will announce his destination tomorrow.
