Liverpool and Manchester United are both apparently prepared to activate the £33m release clause of Atletico Madrid winger Arda Turan in January.
The Turkish international recently signed a contract at the Vicente Calderon Stadium that includes a stipulation that any potential suitor would have to pay that figure to lure him away from the La Liga club.
However, Turan's agent has recently admitted that the 26-year-old dreams of playing in England, a revelation that The Express claims will trigger a transfer war between the North-East rivals.
Red Devils boss David Moyes has concerns over his wide options, and is believed to be tracking Cruzeiro star Everton Ribeiro, although Turan would be a much more established and eye-catching recruit.
Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is looking to add more quality to his squad in order for them to secure a return to the Champions League, where he hopes to be by next season.
Turan, who has scored three goals in 14 appearances for Atletico this term, has experience playing in Europe's premier competition from his time with Madrid and Galatasaray.
