Liverpool have allegedly asked Philippe Coutinho to remain at Anfield on loan if they allow the Brazilian international to sign for Barcelona.
Reports have indicated that the two clubs are attempting to negotiate a deal, with Coutinho adamant that he would like to complete the switch to Camp Nou in January.
The 26-year-old is also said to be willing to give up a £13m bonus in order to join the Catalan giants, but according to The Telegraph, Liverpool are still keen to keep their star man on Merseyside for the rest of the season.
Should he sign for Barcelona, Coutinho will be unable to play in the Champions League for the rest of the season.
Jurgen Klopp will allegedly try to convince the player that it makes sense to remain at Liverpool until the summer but as it stands, it appears his efforts will come to nothing.
Coutinho has contributed 12 goals and eight assists for Liverpool in all competitions this season.
