Mario Balotelli will return to Liverpool this summer after AC Milan confirmed that they will not be retaining the striker.
The 25-year-old has spent the season on loan at the San Siro, but he scored just one goal in 20 appearances as the Rossoneri finished seventh in the Serie A table, 23 points off the Champions League places.
Balotelli was left out of Italy's squad for Euro 2016 this summer and will now return to Anfield despite last month admitting that he was "never happy" on Merseyside.
Milan president Silvio Berlusconi also confirmed that Alex, Philippe Mexes and Kevin-Prince Boateng would also leave the club at the end of their contracts this summer.
"There will be several departures as the likes of Alex, Mexes, Boateng and Balotelli all have deals that will expire," he is quoted as saying by The Guardian.
Balotelli, who scored just four goals in 28 matches during his solitary season with Liverpool, is expected to be sold by Jurgen Klopp during the transfer window, with reported interest from Turkey and China.
