Napoli boss Rafa Benitez is reportedly willing to part with midfielder Gokhan Inler in order to be reunited with Liverpool defender Daniel Agger.
Inler, 29, has been a key player for the Serie A side this season, making 26 appearances in all competitions.
However, according to The Metro, Benitez could attempt to use Inler as bait in a deal to sign Agger, who joined the Reds under the Spaniard's stewardship in 2006.
Agger has started just nine Premier League matches this term, with Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers giving more game time to Mamadou Sakho, Martin Skrtel and Kolo Toure.
Rodgers is understood to be keen to keep hold of Agger, but with Lucas Leiva sidelined for at least a month with ligament damage, the prospect of bringing a 67-time Swiss international midfielder to Anfield may be enough to persuade the Irishman to let the Dane go.
