Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has confirmed that the club are in negotiations with captain Fabricio Coloccini over a new contract.
The news comes after Liverpool were reported to be interested in signing the Argentinian.
The Merseyside club have already bought striker Andy Carroll and defender Jose Enrique from the Magpies in the last year.
"Liverpool like looking at our players, don't they?" said Pardew.
"I don't want to add any more to that, other than to say that he's been outstanding for us as a captain and a player, and that we're in negotiations with him on a new contract."
Newcastle, who are unbeaten in the league this season, travel to Stoke City in the Premier League on Monday night.
