Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino is reportedly hopeful that Virgil van Dijk will ease his position on wanting to leave the club.
The Dutchman was left out of the Saints' pre-season trip to France last week after making it clear that he wants to move elsewhere.
Recent reports have claimed that Van Dijk still has his heart set on a switch to Liverpool, despite the Merseyside club publicly withdrawing their interest and apologising to Southampton after being accused of tapping up the centre-back.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the 26-year-old will hold showdown talks this week with Pellegrino, who is keen for Van Dijk to change his stance so that he can return to the squad.
The former Celtic player, who has also been linked to Chelsea, has reportedly been rated by the Saints at around £60m.
