Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong in 2025.
The 23-year-old was a key part of Xabi Alonso's troops last season, with the German club cantering to the Bundesliga title as invincibles.
Frimpong featured in 47 matches across all competitions, scoring 14 goals and providing 10 assists during a marvellous campaign on an individual and collective note.
The Dutchman has made a steady start to the current season at the top table of German football, managing two goal contributions across six league appearances.
Since making the New Year switch from Scottish giants Celtic to the BayArena in January 2021, Frimpong has turned out on 152 occasions for Leverkusen, scoring 26 goals.
Real Madrid considering Frimpong move?
According to ESPN, Spanish and European champions Real Madrid are considering a move for Bayer Leverkusen star Frimpong in the near future.
Los Blancos reportedly view the 23-year-old as a potential alternative to first-choice target Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool.
The England international's contract at Anfield expires in the summer, meaning that he is free to discuss transfers with foreign clubs as early as January.
It has been recently reported that Liverpool are resigned to losing Alexander-Arnold with Carlo Ancelotti's side vulturing around the talent.
However, should Real Madrid fail to secure the services of the Reds star, Frimpong represents an alternative choice for the La Liga holders.
Real Madrid's right-back woes
Real Madrid's pursuit of Alexander-Arnold has been arguably sped up by a major injury blow in the Los Blancos' squad earlier this month.
Dani Carvajal suffered a cruciate ligament injury in early October and is now scheduled to be sidelined for the remainder of the 2024-25 term.
Veteran defender Lucas Vazquez is capable of playing at right-back, although it is clear that Real Madrid are chasing a new top-class option in that position.
Alexander-Arnold is set to be in action for Liverpool as they welcome an in-form Chelsea side to Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon. body check tags ::
