Red Bull Salzburg are reportedly in advanced talks with Liverpool to sign Spanish youngster Stefan Bajcetic before the transfer window slams shut on Friday.
Salzburg, who are now managed by former Reds' assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders, also signed teenager Bobby Clark from Anfield this summer in a deal worth around £10m.
Liverpool, on the other hand, are having a very quiet transfer window and are the only side in the Premier League that are yet to make a new signing, despite rumours suggesting the club are close to bringing in Giorgi Mamardashvili.
However, the Reds have seen several depart this summer, including the likes of Fabio Carvalho, Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip, and it seems that they are now set for their latest player exit.
Salzburg close to agreeing deal for Bajcetic
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic may be close to joining Austrian Bundesliga club Red Bull Salzburg on a season-long loan.
Romano added that Bajcetic was on the radar of several Spanish clubs as well, but negotiations with Salzburg are entering the final stages, with Lijnders said to be keen on bringing in the 19-year-old before the transfer deadline.
The young midfielder has made 22 senior appearances for Liverpool after spending several years with the youth teams since joining the club in 2021.
Bajcetic received regular playing time for the Reds early in the 2022-23 campaign, but an injury sustained in March against Real Madrid sidelined him for the rest of the season.
He has since struggled to maintain fitness and has found it difficult to surpass the more established senior-team midfielders currently at Arne Slot's disposal.
Another youngster set to follow Bajcetic out of Anfield?
Bajcetic is not the only youngster on the move from Anfield this summer, with the Reds having also agreed deals for Clarke, as mentioned earlier, and Sepp van den Berg to Brentford.
However, another Liverpool rising star's future could be decided this week, with the club reportedly mulling over allowing Tyler Morton to leave on loan to Bayer Leverkusen.
The Daily Mail reported that Xabi Alonso's side have approached the Reds about a move for the 21-year-old and have promised that the midfielder will play in at least 50% of their matches this season if he remains fit.
Liverpool are believed to prefer a permanent sale for the youngster and have set an asking price of around £20m to part ways with him.
